ACTIE IS DRINGEND NODIG De terugtrekking van het Verenigd Koninkrijk uit de Europese Unie is van bijzonder belang voor dit gebied gezien de geografische ligging en de vele verbindingen. De betrokken kust- en hinterlandregio’s zijn allen regio’s die vanuit hun nabijheid het meest geïmpacteerd worden door de terugtrekking van het Verenigd Koninkrijk uit de Europese Unie. Tezamen zullen ze zeer binnenkort een nieuwe buitengrens van de Unie vormen. Een onbekende uitdaging voor deze regio die meer dan ooit baat zou hebben bij een aangehouden nauwe samenwerking. Daarbovenop is er de gezondheidscrisis van een zeldzame omvang die de economieën en samenlevingen van de Unie verzwakt en noopt tot de uitwerking en uitvoering van diverse relanceplannen. Tegelijkertijd zal de specifieke rol en positie van het Kanaal gebied binnen de EU en het mondiale economische systeem niet veranderen. Als een van de drukste maritieme corridors ter wereld zal het een strategisch maritiem gebied blijven waar veel kwesties op het gebied van economische ontwikkeling, energie transitie, maritiem verkeer, klimaat,… met elkaar concurreren om aandacht en met elkaar interageren. |

ACTION URGENTLY NEEDED The withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union is of particular importance for this area given its geographical location and many connections. The concerned coastal and hinterland regions are all regions that will be the most impacted by the UK withdrawal from the European Union. Together they will very soon become a new external border of the Union. An unknown challenge for which a continued close cooperation in this region would be more than ever beneficial. On top of all this comes the sanitary crisis of rare magnitude that weakens the economies and societies of the Union and necessitates the development and execution of several recovery and relaunch plans. At the same time, the particular role and position of the Channel area within the EU and global economic system will not change. As one of the busiest maritime corridors in the world it will remain a strategic maritime area where many issues in terms of economic development, energy transition, maritime traffic, climate…compete for attention and interact with each other. |

ACTION NÉCESSAIRE D'URGENCE Le retrait du Royaume-Uni de l'Union européenne revêt une importance particulière pour cette zone compte tenu de sa situation géographique et de ses nombreuses connexions. Les régions côtières et de l'arrière-pays concernées rassemblent les régions qui seront les plus touchées par le retrait du Royaume-Uni de l'Union européenne. Ensemble, elles constitueront très bientôt une nouvelle frontière externe de l'Union. Un nouveau défi pour lequel une coopération étroite et durable dans cette zone serait plus que jamais bénéfique. À tout cela s'ajoute la crise sanitaire d'une ampleur rare qui fragilise les économies et les entreprises de l'Union européenne et nécessite l'élaboration et l'exécution de plusieurs plans de relance et d’investissement. Dans le même temps, le rôle et la position particuliers de la région Manche – Mer du Nord au sein de l'UE et du système économique mondial ne changeront pas. Etant l’un des corridors maritimes les plus fréquentés au monde, il restera une zone maritime stratégique où de nombreux enjeux en termes de développement économique, de transition énergétique, de trafic maritime, de climat… se disputent la primauté et interagissent les uns avec les autres. |
